Malaria, diarrhea and pneumonia are all killers in many African countries. The lack of proper care and treatment takes life’s that could have been saved. Swecare and Swedish Trade Council invite you to participate in a round-table discussion regarding how Swedish companies can participate with their products and services within e-health in Africa.

Guest speaker will be Karin Källander, Researcher in eHealth at Karolinska Institutet, that is leading a 5 year project of fighting deceases with local health care agents in the countryside parts of Uganda and Mozambique, by using e-health as a tool. The goal of the project is to give the rural populations children access to treatment in their local community. Many deaths are due to the fact that treatment is not available in the local community but the sick person needs to travel to the nearest hospital that can be days away.

The growth within the telecom sector in Africa also opens up for many opportunities within eHealth. The combination of the awareness of how to treat for specific conditions and the usage of mobile phones and internet in Africa gives a perfect opportunity to take part in the next step towards global health. Many African countries are starting to look into how they can make the treatment options in their country more readily available and efficient. Swedish know-how and equipment can play an important part in the African future.

Swedish Trade Council’s  Area Manager for East, Central and West Africa, Henrik Danielsson will be sharing his expertise and experience on how to win the deals and take your business transactions from plans to reality in Africa.

Swecare is a unique platform where academia, public and private sector join forces toward enhanced export and internationalization of Swedish health care and life science. Swecare has recently started a three year Sida financed project, Swecare for Development, with the aim of helping Swedish players within health care and life science to start working towards developing countries, such as those in East Africa. Patrik Barje will give a brief presentation of  the project, Swecare for Development.
