Urban development delegation to Japan


Join our mobilization of Swedish innovative and sustainable solutions

The natural disaster in March this year has left Japan facing the challenge of rebuilding entire villages and parts of cities, along a coastline approximately 500 kilometers long.

On assignment from the Swedish Government, the Swedish Trade Council arranged an expert delegation in June this year, the foremost purpose of which was to assist with Swedish expertise for the rebuilding of the Tohoku region. The delegation consisted of representatives for industry organizations, authorities, Swedish companies and potential Japanese partners.

From February 8th to 10th, the Swedish Trade Council will conduct a follow-up to the expert delegation, in cooperation with the Swedish Embassy in Tokyo, Invest Sweden, and Growth Analysis.

The business delegation, in conjunction with the official visit of the Swedish Minister for Trade, Dr Ewa Björling, will be headed by Mr Ulf Berg, President and CEO of the Swedish Trade Council.

The theme will be sustainable and innovative urban development. A few examples of subjects that will be discussed are:
  • Sustainable and innovative urban planning and development
  • Energy systems
  • ICT solutions for smart cities

An important part is to exchange experiences between the Japanese and Swedish companies and experts.
