Swedish Trade Council in Indonesia

The Swedish Trade Council’s offices in Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, Vietnam and the Philippines together form the Swedish Trade Council in ASEAN. The offices are also responsible for the Indonesian and Cambodian markets.

Indonesia is Southeast Asia's largest economy in terms of GDP, with a large domestic market with over 240 million inhabitants. This was one of the factors why Indonesia was only affected moderately by the global recession in 2008-2009 and had a positive GDP growth 2009. Indonesia's huge population has a growth rate which means that if it continues at the current pace Indonesia's population will have exceeded 300 million in 2035.

Currently major investments in upgrading infrastructure in the country are made and over the next five years the railway network will be extended. Investment budget for this period is as much as 14 billion USD. Other opportunities exist in the mining industry where Indonesia is already the world's third largest mining nation.
