The Saudi kingdom is the Arab world's largest economy and Sweden's most important export market in the Middle East. In 2008, the Swedish export to Saudi Arabia amounted to circa 9.4 billion SEK. Over the next 15 years, the country is deemed to have an infrastructure need equivalent to about 1000 billion USD. The investments will include inter alia roads, railways, telecommunications, water & sewage, electricity, mining, health and education, to meet the needs and demands of its growing population.
