Ethnic groups:

The largest ethnic group is the Han Chinese approximately 98% of which 84% are Fujianese or Hakka. Of these 14% is "mainland Chinese" i.e. the group that followed the nationalists to after 1949. Indigenous ethnic group stand for 2% of the total population, divided between 11 tribes.

Official Language:

Chinese (mandarin), but 70% of also use Hoklo (Taiwanese). 16% of the population also speaks Hakka.
