May 28th saw the opening of a full-day seminar on the topic of “Infrastructure and Traffic Safety Solutions” in Sofia Bulgaria. The seminar was jointly arranged by the embassies of Norway and Sweden, the Swedish Trade Council and the Bulgarian-Nordic Chamber of Commerce. The event attracted about 100 guests. The seminar was opened by the Swedish Ambassador in Bulgaria, H.E. Mr. Paul Beijer, and the Deputy Minister of Interior of Bulgaria, Mr. Pavlin Dimitrov. Welcoming words were held by Mr. Kamen Kichev, Deputy Minister of Transport and Telecommunications, Ms. Anne-Lise Rognlidalen, Commercial Counsellor of the Royal Norwegian Embassy and Innovation Norway, Ms. Elza Kazemi, Trade Commissioner of the Swedish Trade Council in Bulgaria, responsible for the Balkans, and Mr. Göran Svensson, President of the Bulgarian-Nordic Chamber of Commerce.
The programme contained information about the current traffic safety situation in Bulgaria and showed the Norwegian and the Swedish experience in the field of road rehabilitation and maintenance, road safety solutions, etc.
The guests of the seminar had the privilege to hear presentations by Mr. Svetoslav Kaimakanov, Road Infrastructure Agency, Mr. Alexi Kesiakov, State-Public Consultative Commission on the Problems with Road Safety, Mr. Kristian Dimitrov, Sofia Municipality, Mr. Valentin Panchev, Ministry of Transport and Telecommunications, and Mr. Toma Yanakiev, World Bank. Ms Antonia Komitova also presented her own campaign called “Park Right”.The presented Swedish companies at the event were: Birstaverken AB (Mr. Anders Hamrin), Cleanosol AB (Mr. Lars-Åke Nilsson) and Ericsson Telecommunications (Mr. Giovanni Zappelli). The presented Norwegian companies were: HTS BeSafe (Ms. Dimitrina Nenchovska) and SafeRoad (Mr. Svenn Egil Finden).
After the first session of the seminar, the Swedish and the Norwegian companies participated in fruitful match-making sessions with relevant Bulgarian counterparts. TV channels and newspapers covered the event.
The day before the seminar, May 27th, H.E. Mr. Paul Beijer, the Ambassador of Sweden to Bulgaria, welcomed the Swedish and the Norwegian guests, together with members of the Bulgarian-Nordic Chamber of Commerce and representatives of the Bulgarian authorities at a reception in his residence where everyone had the chance to mingle a day before the big event.
