June 10th saw the opening of the “Waste Management – the Swedish Model” Seminar in Sofia, Bulgaria. The seminar was arranged by the Swedish Trade Council and the Swedish Embassy in Bulgaria.
The objective of this seminar was to create awareness among Bulgarian administration and industry about the Swedish competence and know how, to promote the Swedish products and solutions and to create concrete business opportunities. The seminar also served the purpose to give Swedish companies an opportunity to meet and present their company to important decision makers and potential business partners in Bulgaria.
The seminar started with a welcome speech held by H.E. the Ambassador of Sweden to Bulgaria, Mr. Paul Beijer, and Ms. Elza Kazemi, Commercial Counselor, Swedish Trade Council. Presentations on the current state of the waste management practices in Bulgaria were held by: Ms. Teodora Jeleva, Ministry of Environment and Water, Mr. Petar Traykov, Municipality of Sofia, and Prof. Rumen Arsov, National Association of Water.
The Swedish model of waste management practices was presented by Mr. Eric Rönnols, Avfall Sverige, Mr. Kim Bretting, Botek-Relink, Mr. Yanaki Penov, Presona AB, Mr. Stefan Minchev, ABB Bulgaria, Mr. Anders Jönsson, Alfa Laval.
During the second part of the seminar, the Swedish and the Bulgarian companies and decision-makers had the opportunity to meet in individual matchmaking sessions. Their purpose was to facilitate the contact between the Swedish and the Bulgarian participants. The intense discussions that took place marked the existing business opportunities between Sweden and Bulgaria within waste management.
The seminar resulted into raised awareness among Swedish companies about the increased possibilities to do business with their Bulgarian counterparts.
Representanter från Exportrådets kontor i Grekland (inkl. Cypern), Bulgarien och Serbien (inkl. Bosnien, FYROM, Montenegro, Kosovo, Albanien) besöker regelbundet Sverige för att träffa företag som är intresserade av dessa marknader.
