The event was meant to be a forum of discussions where our guests from both the private and the public sector can learn and discuss their experiences, when it comes to developing an environmental friendly and sustainable city.
Around 110 participants - representing local authorities, architecture and development companies, media - were welcomed to the event with an opening speech by the Swedish ambassador, Mr. Anders Bengtcén, followed by Ms. Luminta Ghita representing the Ministry of Environment, Mr. Cosmin Gheorghiu, representing Bucharest City Hall and Mr. Karl Edberg representing the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs, who touched upon themes like Sustainable development, energy strategy and Strategic Project Development, as an instrument for Sustainable Infrastructure Projects.
Mr. Eugen Curteanu, State Secretary in the Ministry for Regional Development and Tourism together with Ms. Anca Ginavar, introduced the pilot project for the first eco-friendly neighborhood in Bucharest, which is the main project that could benefit of the Swedish experience and approach towards sustainable urban development.
Our event continued with ambassador Bengtcén´s presentation of the SymbioCity concept and Mr. Gunnar Söderholm´s presentation of the Stockholm- European Green Capital in 2010.
Swedish companies like ABB, Ericsson, Plannja, Skanska, SKF joined us in this event, presenting company experience when it comes to green conduct towards sustainable development.
Before the final Q&A session of the event, Mr. Nicholas Anderson, representing SEK, explained how sustainable infrastructure projects may find the appropriate financial support.
