US Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Market Access and Compliance (MAC) Michael C. Camuñez said with its successful market, fast-growing economy and excellent leadership on managing its economy, Turkey is the best place to invest in Europe. He noted Turkey is one of the six markets the US is focusing on in the world and said in addition to its sound economy, Turkey’s location provides a strategic advantage for exports due to the country’s proximity to markets in Europe, North Africa and Middle East. He talked about predictions for Turkey’s energy needs, which are expected to increase by 7 to 9 percent each year, and commented, “It is astounding that the country aims to cover 30 percent of its energy needs through renewable energy sources by 2023.”
He pointed out that Turkey maintained its economic stability and fast growth despite the crisis in the eurozone and continued its outward economic policy instead of choosing the easy way and following inward economic policies that have given negative results as seen in past examples. Camuñez said, “Turkey’s growth may be effected by the crisis in Europe and shrinking markets, but even if the growth pace slows down, Turkey remains the most hopeful and fastest growing economy in Europe because the banking system and public administration is very strong in the country.”Read more
